Mexico Goes Multimedia for 2012 Tourist Campaign

The Mexican government will be encouraging tourists to help it countdown to the end of the Maya calendar on Dec. 21, 2012.

The office of the President of Mexico last month unveiled a promotional video for the “Mundo Maya,” or Maya World. Ten archaeological sites are featured in the states of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatan.

At the end of the video, the audience is asked to “la cuenta de harĂ¡ historia … una nueva era comienza,” which I translate as, “The countdown that will make history … a new era commences.”

The video is part of an 18-month-long promotional campaign promoting tourism in the region of Mexico once dominated by the Maya civilization. You can watch it on YouTube HERE.
