August 4th, 2008 by ejalbright

Despite all the gnashing of teeth over damage to Chichen Itza’s monuments, El Concierto de las Mil Columnas (The Concert of the Thousand Columns) now has tickets on sale at Ticketmaster HERE.
The concert will be held Oct. 4 at Chichen Itza in front of the Temple of Warriors. Tickets top out at 10,000 pesos (about $950 US dollars). The least expensive are 500 pesos ($45 US). Tickets are only available in Mexico, and not through Ticketmaster in the US or Canada.
For the 10,000 peso ticket, you also get cocktails and dinner with Placido and, no doubt, several score of other ticket holders.
Tickets went on sale Friday for the concert, which will include the singer-songwriter Armando Manzanero, the soprano Ana Maria Martinez, director Eugene Kohn and the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra. You can order tickets online or by calling in Mexico 5325-9000, or at authorized locations such as Mixup, Discolandia, Liverpool, Comercial Mexicana and Gandhi.
