The Wall of Skulls

"Il Tzompantli" means "Wall of Skulls" and it is believed that this demonstrates the aggressive and war-like culture of the denizens of Chichen Itza.

The walls of this short platform are decorated with images of hundreds of skulls . There also are carvings of eagles, feathered serpents and Maya warriors.
